February 22, 2017

            The Ferdinand Town Council met for their special meeting at 6:15 PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in the Town Hall. Present were Debbie Johnson and Ron Weyer Council members, Clerk Treasurer, Beverly Schulthise, and Town Attorney, Sharon Bohnenkemper. Absent from the meeting was President Ken Sicard. Debbie Johnson presided over the meeting.          

            Quality Craft Construction’s bid on the waterline project was in order. It had also been reviewed by engineer of Lochmueller Group, and he approved along with Bill and Henry. Ron made a motion and Debbie seconded to approve bid and authorize Bev and Chris to sign necessary documents. Motion carried 2-yes, 0-no.

            Police Chief, Lloyd Froman, presented a letter from Sergeant Nathan Lueken resigning his position with the Ferdinand Police Department. He was offered a job somewhere else in the private sector. His last day of employment will be March 8, 2017. Ron made a motion to accept the resignation of Nathan Lueken and allow Lloyd to review applicants from the reserves. Debbie had reservations about hiring from the reserve group but to advertise and see if we get anybody that has already completed the Indiana Police Academy. It was decided to look at the reserves for a candidate and Debbie seconded motion. Motion carried 2-yes, 0-no.. Lloyd will interview the reserves we have.

            The following special claims were approved. To Hopf Equipment for Toolcat and 108” snow blade for a cost of $47,155, Southern Sirens LLC, a deposit of $200 and Justin Johnson a deposit of $1250 as performers at Folk Festival. Motion made by Ron and seconded by Debbie. Motion carried 2-yes, 0-no.

As there was no further business to discuss, Ron made a motion to adjourn and Debbie seconded. Motion carried 2-Yes 0-No. Meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m. Next regular meeting is March 7, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.
