September 20, 2017 - Town Council minutes

TOWN OF FERDINAND

SPECIAL MEETING

September 20, 2017

The Ferdinand Town Council met for a special meeting at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in the Town Hall. Present were President, Ken Sicard and Ron Weyer, Council member, and Clerk-Treasurer, Beverly Schulthise.  Absent was Debbie Johnson, Council member. John Wetzel from Midwestern Engineers was present to discuss the change order of $5,511 approved at September 12th meeting. He showed a diagram of what actual drawing and specs for the Bio-Solids site were on the plans. There is a 15” culvert, seven downspouts, flush hydrants, and 16” water main. The problem is the grade of 6.15 elevations on roadway is above the beds which are at 6.13 grade. He admits that we should have another drain further down and was not put in drawing. He redid the plan with the water line extended and got rid of one flush hydrant but kept the seven downspouts and added surface inlets.  He showed a drawing of what changes were made. They also put culvert in deeper at the entrance. There should have been an inlet by road and John agrees it should have been designed for this. With the new design, about 200 more lineal feet were added to drain and five more circular drainage inlets were added. Ken asked, “For the additional 20 days, will there be an increase in Midwestern Engineering cost to Ferdinand?” John replied that no extra costs to Ferdinand. Ron and Ken feel we are getting better plans than originally drawn up to carry the water away. They felt additional value has been added to project. Original change order has been reviewed by RD and waiting for final approval.

Special claim to Mark Headley, the company with sound and lights for Folk Festival was approved on motion by Ken and seconded by Ron. Motion carried to pay $1500. Ken made a motion and Ron seconded that at the beginning of 2018, Jane Oeding would be become full-time in the office. Right now she is part-time. Motion carried 3-yes, 0-no. The Town of Ferdinand received $445,440 in Community Crossings grant money. Being no further business to come before the Council, meeting adjourned at 5:45 PM on motion by Ron and seconded by Ken. Motion carried 2-yes, 0-no.
