2016 Dubois County Leadership Academy Call for Applicants

DCLA LogoThe Dubois County Leadership Academy's steering committee has issued its call for applicants for its 2016 class. Now in its sixth year, the Leadership Academy is, again, seeking emerging leaders in Dubois County businesses, corporations, local governments, schools, etc. There are no age requirements.

The Dubois County Leadership Academy will meet a minimum of six times (four-hour sessions) at various locations across the County (a minimum of two times in Jasper, two times in Huntingburg, and two times in Ferdinand) from late March/early April to late July/early August. There will also be a committment of personal time to work on the Capstone Project.  Past class topics have included leadership essentials, problem solving, government and public service, communications, and religious and civic leadership. Starting with the 2015 sessions, the Steering Committee has placed a higher focus on business principals and entrepreneurship by combining these topics to re-purpose the problem solving session.

Each academy culminates with a graduation ceremony and the presentation of capstone projects.

"One of the benefits of participating in the Dubois County Leadership Academy is being taken outside of one's comfort zone," said Jasper Mayor (and member of the Leadership Academy's steering committee) Terry Seitz. "Through teamwork, collaboration and shared experiences, you will grow both personally and professionally."

Participation in the Dubois County Leadership Academy requires "buy in" from the participant's place of employment, as meeting times, typically, will be either in the morning or afternoon during normal business hours of operation. If chosen as a 2016 Leadership Academy participant, a $100 fee will be due at the first meeting (check made payable to the Town of Ferdinand). Applications may be submitted to Chris James at cjames@ferdinandindiana.org or postal mailed to the Town of Ferdinand, Attention:  Chris James, 2065 Main Street, P.O. Box 7, Ferdinand, Indiana 47532.

Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, March 23.  They can be found in a separate link on the Town of Ferdinand website, as well as the Dubois County Community Foundation website: www.dccommunityfoundation.org  or by contacting Ferdinand Town Manager Chris James at cjames@ferdinandindiana.org.

The Dubois County Leadership Academy is a county-wide initiative sponsored by the Leadership Pillars of the Ferdinand and Jasper HomeTown Competitiveness initiatives, the City of Jasper, the City of Huntingburg, and Vincennes University Jasper Campus. The steering committee, through the generous pro bono work of Bingham Greenebaum Doll, LLP, is now officially a 501 (c) 3, non-profit, standalone entity.
