Due to Ferdinand's ideal location and accessibility, residents and visitors have access to a wide variety of area attractions. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, many campers, fishing boats, speed boats, motor and non-motor-cyclists, joggers, walkers, hikers, swimmers and hunters can be seen on their way to their favorite activity around the area. Ferdinand is a dream-come-true for the lover of the outdoors.

Ferdinand State Forest is just a few minutes outside the city limits and offers camping, hunting, swimming, fishing, hiking, and nature watching. Modern facilities, including bathhouses, electricity, restrooms, picnic tables, grills and campfire pits, all nestled in this hilly forest ready for you to enjoy.

Several fabulous golf facilities are less than 25 minutes away in three directions, and visitors can take advantage of Ferdinand's central location to three counties with hotel accommodations.

Ferdinand is home to three lakes, and within minutes of others including Huntingburg Lake, Lincoln State Park, and Patoka Lake. For the amusement park fun-seeker, Holiday World, in Santa Claus, Indiana, is just 15 minutes to the south of Ferdinand off Hwy 162.

Southern Indiana is also becoming a home to several breweries and wineries, such as St. Benedict's Brew Works at the Sisters of St. Benedict Monastery in Ferdinand and Monkey Hollow Winery in St. Meinrad.
